Ashland and the Rogue Valley have experienced growth in the high tech sector in the last ten years that reveals an industry with great potential for expansion and development of highly skilled, well-paying jobs. Our area attracts high tech entrepreneurs who value our quality of life and highly educated workforce.
The industry cluster of high tech and computer systems design and related services employment has 56 firms in Jackson County with 25 of them in Ashland underscoring a hub of activity. Not only does Ashland have almost half of the firms in this industry, but the payroll of these jobs is 10% higher than in the rest of the county at $64,479 annually compared to $ 60,963 in Jackson County.
Technology businesses by their very nature are not place bound but have the flexibility to be located anywhere and we are fortunate they have chosen Ashland and the Rogue Valley as their home.
